General Information
Vampires aren’t always the bloodthirsty monsters many humans associate them with. Like every race, there are always exceptions to the rule. However, there are still many vampires that you wouldn’t want to run into in a dark alley. Or even in the middle of the street in a well-populated town.
There are two different types of vampires. There are the Night Stalkers, the ones who can only come out at night. They’re the typical bloodthirsty monster most humans fear, though there is always an exception. Then, there are the Day Walkers, the vampires who can walk in the daylight as well as at night. They don’t have a strong urge to drink blood, but they still need it to survive.
Vamps heal quickly, even quicker than werewolves do. Unless a vamp is dealt a mortal blow (head taken off, or set on fire), it is extremely difficult to destroy a vampire. It is possible to wound them to the point that they would run. While they won’t burst into flames, fire is a good deterrent for the Night Stalkers. Fire for the Day Walkers, on the other hand, is a different story. It only hurts them as much as any normal person.
As for werewolves, children are sacred to most vampires. Night Stalkers for the most part refuse to feed on a human younger than sixteen. Day Walkers won’t feed on a human younger than twenty.
Night Stalkers
Night Stalkers is more of a derogatory term given to the vampires that dwell only at night by the Day Walkers. They aren’t able to go outside in the sun or they’ll risk death by the strong UV rays that are deadly to their kind. This type of vampire needs blood to survive, and they say that the sweetest blood is when the victim dies.
They’re more apt to kill whoever it is they’re feeding off of. It’s said that Werewolf blood is addictive to Vampires, though trying to catch a werewolf to feed off of is usually deadly. Humans are usually their main source of food, and are the only ones capable of turning into a vampire. If a Night Stalker turns a human, that human will in turn be a Night Stalker. They are much stronger than Day Walkers, on par with strength to the werewolves.
Night Stalkers are unable to eat solid food. They can drink other things besides blood, but solid food makes them violently ill, their systems unable to process it.
Night stalkers don't technically have heart beats, and are considered to be technically dead.
Day Walkers
Day Walkers are the cousins to the Night Stalkers, milder and less inclined to kill the creature they’re feeding on. As their name suggests, they’re able to walk in daylight without any ramifications, though they’re still tender to the sun. If they’ve fed recently, it’s harder for them to stand the light of the sun, though not impossible. While they do need blood to survive, unlike the Night Stalkers they can eat normal food and still gain the nourishment their body needs to survive. This particular clan of Vampires is actually very rare, as the Night Stalkers often attacks and kills any Day Walker they find. If a human is turned by a Day Walker, they will only become a Day Walker. They are weaker than Night Stalkers, but stronger than most other races, except werewolves.
No one knows for sure how the Day Walkers came about. The Night Stalkers had been around for centuries before the Day Walkers started to appear, and none were willing to tell their bloodthirsty cousins how they came to be.
Rebirth
Most vampires call their change from human to vampire their Rebirth. It’s not as easy as most believe, as the vampire and human need to have a blood tie before the human can be Reborn with someone to control the bloodthirsty fledgling they will inevitably become. While some fledglings to have self-control as soon as they’re Reborn, it’s a rarity so vampires always try to have a blood tie before the Rebirth.
When a human is brought over, it’s the duty of his/her maker to protect and teach the fledgling self-control and how to keep a human alive longer for the human to better feed the fledgling later.
Strengths
Vampires are extremely strong, though only the Night Stalkers are strong enough to match that of the wolves. They heal much faster than wolves, and only a mortal blow will kill them. For example, if someone was to try to take off their head, they had better do it right, and take it off within one or two tries, otherwise they’ll have a seriously furious vampire trying to eat them.
Vampires are faster than werewolves, their speed unrivaled by any. They use this to their advantage to sneak up on humans, and either kill them, or take them to be part of their human sheep.
Not all vampires kidnap and kill. Some will gather humans who are willing to feed vampires themselves, so the vampire doesn’t need to kidnap them and force them to be food. Often these humans are willing to be sex slaves as well.
They have heightened senses as well. They have the ability to almost smell emotion, though the Night Stalkers don’t necessarily need to breathe. They have eyesight that allows them to see incredibly well in the dark, though they do need at least the faintest glimmer of light.
Weaknesses
Night Stalkers are extremely weak to sunlight, and fire. The sun will begin to burn them badly, and eventually they will turn to ash if left in the sun. Fire has the same effect on vampires as sunlight, so they take extra precautions against both weaknesses. Day Walkers don’t have as much of a problem with fire or sunlight, but they can still get burned, and it makes their abilities weaker.
A stake to the heart can paralyze a vampire long enough for a person to cut off his or her head, or to simply set them on fire. While a stake can’t kill them, it will give someone time enough to do it themselves.
Magic
Vampires, like werewolves, have magics of their own, though aren’t able to use magic like witches or wizards. They have the magical ability to remain silent, so that no one, save an attentive wolf, wouldn’t be able to hear them. They also have the ability to teleport, though when the sun is out it’s extremely hard to do so even for Day Walkers.
